What is Reflexology?
Reflexology involves the use of specific touch techniques on ‘body maps’ that are believed to exist on the feet, hands and ears. It is widely used in Europe (where its seeming ability to affect all parts of the body- including internal organs- has been valued for many years) and it is now rapidly gaining popularity here in the US. Sessions are very relaxing and aim to reduce stress and toxicity throughout the body in order to help it towards balance and better health. Some people seek reflexology purely to ‘de-stress’ or to ease pain in their hands and/or feet. However, clients also report relief from a wide range of health issues such as headaches, nausea, back and neck problems, sinus congestion, asthma, PMS, sciatica, insomnia, fibromyalgia, lupus, arthritis and many other chronic and acute conditions. Reflexology at Healthmates
Mark Hitchcock has been involved in the field of ‘alternative’ therapies for more than 25 years and has focused on helping people through reflexology since 2005. He is certified in ‘The Flocco Method’ - integrating foot, hand and ear reflexology - and also incorporates Ayurvedic foot reflexology techniques. Many clients have found this even more relaxing and effective than foot reflexology alone, but he is happy to give hour or half hour sessions for feet only if you prefer. He also offers the choice between being treated on a massage table or in a very comfortable ‘lazy boy’ chair. In short – you can choose whatever combination of the above suits you best!
There is also now an at-home service available for one hour sessions of reflexology - call for details.
